Empowerment
Empowerment
YWCA YW-Teens is a service and leadership training organization. They exist to enhance the quality of life in central Louisiana by supporting the local mission of the YWCA and by donating hundreds of hours of community service. Many girls gain work experience (volunteering) for future jobs.
Panhellenic Program provides information on individual girls planning to attend a college or university with national sororities. Area high school seniors submit an information sheet to be kept on file at the YWCA. Representatives use this file during “Rush” to identify girls interested in joining their sorority.
Working Women’s Wardrobe provides free appropriate work clothing to women in need. This program is for women seeking employment or starting new jobs.
Advocacy
We Advocate...
Social Action and Advocacy are the cornerstones of the YWCA. We continue to work to improve social and economic conditions for all people. The YWCA comprises over 300 local associations, regional leadership, and a national office in Washington D.C. – who all work together, across the nation to strengthen our voices in the Nation’s capitol and in state and local governments.
